Swanpoly ECO rHDPE Granules | Sustainable PCR Plastic for Cosmetic & Food Packaging

Date: Jan 28th,2026

rHDPE granules are recycled High-Density Polyethylene pellets. They are a sustainable alternative to new plastic. These pellets come from post-consumer and industrial waste. rHDPE is known for its high strength, chemical resistance, and durability. It is used to make containers, pipes, automotive parts, and household goods. This process supports a circular economy by reducing waste and the need for new resources. They are processed from sorted HDPE (like bottles) into consistent pellets, suitable for injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding.

rHDPE is a type of plastic made from recycled HDPE waste. This waste comes from items like milk jugs, shampoo bottles, and detergent containers.  rHDPE is commonly available in transparent or white colors.

What is the difference between rPET and rHDPE?

Recycled PET (rPET) is commonly used for new beverage bottles, food containers, and polyester fibers for clothing and carpets. Recycled HDPE (rHDPE) is used for non-food containers like detergent bottles, motor oil bottles, and plastic lumber.

rHDPE are tough, chemical resistant, moisture resistant, and has a good stiffness-to-weight ratio. It provides a circular economy solution, reducing virgin plastic use, landfill waste, and carbon footprint compared to virgin HDPE. The quality (purity, color, consistency) can vary based on the source and recycling process. For high-demand applications, food-grade or high-purity rHDPE is required

rHDPE is extremely common and suitable for cosmetic packaging. The rHDPE granules in the cosmetic industry are usually used to make bottles. These bottles hold shampoos, conditioners, shower gels, lotions, creams, and jars for thicker products.

Brand like P & G or Coca-cola use it to meet ESG goals and appeal to eco-conscious consumers. It's often used in post-consumer recycled (PCR) content statements.

rHDPE often has a grey or off-white hue (from mixed color feedstock), so it's frequently used for opaque containers or with added colorants. rHDPE pellets are commonly used in food packaging. You can find them in non-carbonated beverage bottles, milk jugs, juice bottles, yogurt tubs, and cereal box liners. The recycling process must be a closed-loop or very clean system. It should be approved by regulatory bodies like the FDA in the US and EFSA in Europe

rHDPE granules are a versatile, sustainable raw material. Their use in cosmetic packaging is now standard practice, driven by market forces. Their use in food packaging is more complex and regulated. It represents a new step in closing the plastic loop.
